HXV Series of Switching Systems

HXV products are high voltage systems intened for Hi-pot / IR or High voltage switching. They can be configured to drive from 32 to 128 switch points per chassis and can be configured as multiplexer (1xN) or Matrix (NxM) configurations. Standard HXV chassis are used for signals up to 5000 VAC rms ( 7400 V peak ) and can carry up to 5 amps of current. Custom systems can be built up to 25KV. Most of the modules used in these systems are 1xN multiplexers or 2×4 matrix modules that can be combined to form larger multiplexers or matrices. Connector options for standard HXV include 5 way banana jacks / binding posts, Shrouded Banana Jacks or SHV ( High voltage BNC) if you need to use a high voltage cable with a grounded shield for safety applications. Control options include 10/100BaseT Ethernet LAN, RS232, GPIB or optional manual control. Standard HXV systems use high voltage reed relays. Custom HXV systems up to 25KV use application specific relays and connectors from a variety of vendors based on required specifications.

Control Options

HXV Mainframe Chassis

To be configured for selected switch modules, purchased separately. Units larger than 32 channels come standard with the required LED Display modules. A complete 96 channel mainframe requires 12 display modules and a complete 128 channel mainframe requires 16 display modules. NOTE: If you do not require all 96 or 128 channels then you can request fewer display modules which will reduce the price of the system.

These Chassis controls up to four 8×1 or 4×2 modules, or up to four 8K modules in a slightly larger 4 RU chassis. LEDs on the front panel show switch and power status. Add Switch Modules and a Control Module to complete the system. Pushbutton Manual control is optional.

HXV/96-MF

These Chassis controls up to twelve 8×1 or 4×2 modules, and can hold up to six 8K modules. One CP8 relay driver / display module is needed per switch module and these give you LED indication of switch status on the front panel. Add Switch Modules and a Control Module to complete the system. Keypad manual control with LCD display is optional.

HXV/128-MF

These Chassis controls up to sixteen 8×1 or 4×2 modules, and up to eight 8K modules. LEDs on the front panel show switch and power status. Add Switch Modules, CP8 Driver Modules ( one per switch module ) and a Control Module to complete the system. Keypad Manual manual control with LCD display is optional.

Custom HXV Systems up to 25KV

Cytec can build custom high voltage systems up to 25 KV. Configurations are all done per customer request with many relay and connector options. Options include:

  • Custom multiplexer or matrix configurations
  • Application specific relay options for high voltage up to 25 KV
  • Application specific relay options for high current up to 25 amps
  • Separate driver chassis for high isolation from EMP / EMC
  • Interlock systems for safety
  • Shielded cable grounds

HXV Expansion Chassis

HXV/32, /96 and /128 are also built as expansion chassis that are used with a MESA Control Chassis. Multiple expansion chassis allow large or complex systems having one point of control to be confi gured, resulting in cost savings. Expansion chassis do not have control modules installed. 

HXV High Voltage Switch Modules

These switch modules use high reliability high voltage reed relays for applications up to 5000 VAC rms. Fast, high isolation reed relays are perfect for Hi-pot or IR testing. Switch times of 3 ms and life expectancy of 100 million operations. 5 way binding post / banana jacks, shrouded banana jack or SHV safety connectors are available on all modules.
