VX Series - Switching Systems for Automated Test, Instrumentation and Communication

The VX Series are low cost switching systems that use a modular design. Different switch module types can  be assembled in a VX/256 chassis to furnish different switching configurations, including matrices, multiplexers or individual relays. All units have a full front panel LED displaying the Status of all switchpoints. Full computer control is provided.
The installed control module furnishes 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN, IEEE488 Bus, and RS232 Serial controls. Optional front panel pushwheel manual and USB to RS232 controls are available as well.

VX Mainframe Chassis

VX/256 Mainframes are 19″ rack mounting units, 5.25″ high and 15.6″ deep, built with power supplies and motherboards that hold up to 16 VX Switch Modules, Display Modules and an IF-11 Control Module. Switch modules plug into the chassis so that signal I/Os are accessible on the rear panel and the LED display is visible through the front panel. Mainframe chassis hold any of the VX Series Switch Modules.

VX Switch Modules

VX/4(1x4) Modules

This versatile module is built as four 1×4 one or two pole matrices and can also be configured as two 1×8 matrices or one 1×16.

VX16/G2 Switch Module

VX/G Modules

These modules have 16 relays with inputs located on rear panel header connectors and outputs bussed on the motherboard.

VX16/G1 is built with 16 one pole relays.
VX16/G2 has 16 two pole relays wired out to two 20 pin headers and is available with Type S Reed Relays.
VX16/G3 has 16 three pole relays wired out to a 50 pin header.
VX16/GC holds 16 single pole Form C Type S relays wired out to two 20 pin header connectors.

VX/C Specialty Modules

VXC/4X4 COAXIAL SWITCH MODULE This module is built with16 single pole coaxial relays interconnected by 50 ohm characteristic impedance striplines in a 4×4 matrix confi guration as shown in Fig. 9. The inputs and outputs are wired out to coaxial connectors on the rear of the module SMA and SMB are available. There are no connections to the motherboard. Bandpass is DC to 400 MHz (-3dB). Crosstalk and Isolation are better than 60 dB at 10 MHz.

VXC/8×2 COAXIAL SWITCH MODULE This module has 16 single pole coaxial relays interconnected by 50 ohm characteristic impedance striplines in an 8×2 matrix configuration as shown. The eight inputs are wired out to SMA connectors located on the rear of the module. The two outputs are switched through isolation relays to two SMA connectors on the back panel and also to the card edge connector which plugs into a coaxial motherboard. Bandpass is DC to 200 MHz (-3dB). Crosstalk and Isolation are better than 60 dB at 10 MHz. When plugged into the coaxial motherboard, the bandpass is dependent on matrix size due to the stub length. In a 128×2 matrix, the bandpass is 50 MHz.

VX/K Switch Modules

These modules have 16 individual relays with both inputs and outputs brought out to header connectors on the rear of the module. There are no connections to the motherboard, and these modules can be used in any combination with other VX modules.

VX/KA Switch Module has 16 Form A relays wired out to two 20 pin header connectors as shown. It is available with Type S reed switches

VX/KC Switch Module has 16 Form C relays wired out to a 50 pin header connector as shown. It is available with Type CS  reed switches.
