JX Series - High Density 1xN mux or 2xN Matrix Switching Systems

This compact and economically priced series can be used as either 1xN multiplexers, 2xN matrices, or individual switches. As multiplexers, they can be used as a large number of individual muxes or jumpered together to form as large a mux as you need to switch a large number of inputs or outputs to one common port. As a 2xN matrix they allow you to switch any number of signals between two ports of a DVM, DMM, LCR, or other type of meter or supply. Individual relay modules are available for other configurations requiring discrete SPST or SPDT relays with standard or power relays.

JX Multiplexer Applications

These are a few of the more basic applications for JX Series Multiplexers.

2-Wire Test Mux

This set-up works well for basic component test such as measuring resistance, inductance or capacitance when high accuracy is not needed such as basic Open/Short testing. It is also a good way of doing two wire data acquisition from strain gauges, themistors, etc.. Mechanical relays allow the switching of signals without signal conditioning and give you a true reading of what you are testing.

3-Wire Test Mux

Driven guard circuits allow you to speed up test routines by eliminating the need to wait for capacitance to charge. The guard circuit also improves accuracy since it will allow you to test at higher levels well above the noise. Use three or four pole module arrangements for this type of testing.

4-Wire Test Mux

Use with four wire meters to eliminate test fixture resistance and capacitance. Much higher accuracy can be achieved by switching the signal and sense lines through all the fixturing and test circuits. Typically used with LCR meters up to 10 MHz. For even greater accuracy, Cytec can build 4 wire test systems using coax modules allowing LCR meters with bandpass as high as 500 MHz greatly extending the minimum values of capacitance that can be measured.
