CYTEC’s HDX Series are economical, high density, passive, bidirectional switch matrices.
Each chassis holds up to 2048 two pole Type A relays, and a modular design allows great flexibility in creating different switching topologies. For example, the following single chassis configurations are all possible: 960×4 single wire matrix, 64×32 two wire matrix, or 32×8 eight pole matrix. See the possibilities listed below. Several independent matrices, such as a four separate 32×16 two pole matrices, can be provided in one chassis as well.
Ethernet LAN, RS232 & IEEE488 controls are standard, while USB and front panel Manual Controls are optionally available. Modular design allows you to easily expand system.

    Single pole configurations:
  • 64×4 to 960×4
  • 32×8 to 480×8
  • 16×16 to 224×16
  • 8×32 to 112×32
    Two Pole Configurations:
  • 32×4 to 512×4
  • 16×8 to 256×8
  • 8×16 to 128×16
  • 4×32 to 64×32
    Multi-wire configurations:
  • 8×8 to 128×8 four wire matrix
  • 4×16 to 64×16 four wire matrix
  • 4×32 to 32×32 four wire matrix
  • 4×8 to 64×8 eight wire matrix
  • 2×16 to 32×16 eight wire matrix
  • 2×8 to 32×8 sixteen wire matrix
    Two stage matrix configuration examples:
  • 896x4x16 single wire matrix
  • 448x8x16 single wire matrix
  • 256x4x256 two wire matrix
  • 128x8x128 two wire matrix

HDX/8(2x8)-2A-D37S Switch Modules
Each switch module has 8 separate 2×8 matrix sections which may be interconnected to form a variety of larger configurations when used in the HDX chassis.   Most commonly used for x8, x16, and x32 configurations.  Uses D37S ( Socket ) connectors and type A armature relays with the following specs:
    TYPE A RELAY SPECIFICATIONS
  • Switching Voltage 110 VDC
  • Switching Current 1.0 A
  • Carrying Current 2.0 A
  • Breakdown Voltage 750 VDC
  • Operate Time 3 ms
  • Lifetime (mechanical) 100 million cycles
  • Lifetime (electrical) 10 million cycles @ 10 VA
  • EMF < 3 uV
32x4 2 pole switch module for HDX series
HDX/32x4-2A-D37S Switch Modules

Each switch module is an individual 32×4 2 pole matrix.  They may be interconnected to build larger configurations or used in series to make 3 stage matrices that maintain the bandpass of a single module to a great degree.  For example eight of these modules may be cascaded through another module to make a 256×4 matrix with 10 MHz – 3dB bandwidth.  Uses Two D37S ( Socket ) connectors and type A armature relays with the following specs:
